New York swans into the 67th Venice Film Festival.....and storms out!

July 26, 2010 -

Two New York films will have the honor of opening AND closing the 67th Venice Film Festival this year!  Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, a psychological thriller set in the New York ballet community and starring Natalie Portman, will open the festival.  The Tempest, directed by Julie Taymor will be the closing night film.  In Ms. Taymor's version of the Shakespearean tragedy the gender of Prospero is changed to Prospera, and played by Helen Mirren.

We are always thrilled when projects that shot in New York State and participated in our New York State Film Production Credit program achieve this level of exposure and success.

For complete details about the 67th Venice Film Festival, which takes place September 1-11, visit their website at http://www.labiennale.org/en/cinema.
