Suffolk County Film Office

Because of the wide array of geographic and cultural resources it has to offer, Suffolk County is an ideal location for filming movies and documentaries of all types. Formed by an ice age glacier that pushed a large piece of prehistoric Connecticut out toward the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island has developed a unique collection of locations that are seldom found so closely together. Our north shore is covered with hills bordered with a shoreline of towering bluffs and rocky beaches, while our south shore presents a coastal plain that slopes gently down to the quiet waters of our sheltered bays, barrier islands and white sand beaches. If you are looking for lighthouses we have 15, more than any other county in America. In regards to architecture, our history stretches back to the 1600s and includes colonial farmhouses and inns, expansive country and beachfront mansions of industrial age tycoons, historically preserved portside towns, and quaint suburban neighborhoods.
